GUWAHATI: Two separate earthquakes jolted Manipur and Assam in the early hours of Friday. With a richter scale of 3.0 magnitude and of 4.1 magnitude jolted Manipur at 1.06 am and Assam at 2.04 am on Friday. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) has confirmed the news.
According to National Center of Seismology, Manipur earthquake’s epicenter was located 39 km east-south-east of Moirang in Imphal district. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km.
The National Center for Seismology took to twitter and tweeted,” “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.0, Occurred on 18-06-2021, 01:06:08 IST, Lat: 24.30 & Long: 94.10, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 39km ESE of Moirang, Manipur, India,”

Respectively, the epicenter of the earthquake that jolted Assam at 2.04 am on Friday was located 36 km west-north-west of Tezpur in Sonitpur district. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 22 km.
“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 18-06-2021, 02:04:40 IST, Lat: 26.73 & Long: 92.44, Depth: 22 Km, Location: 36km WNW of Tezpur, Assam, India,” the NCS tweeted.
In the last several months, earthquakes seem to be occurring and jolting Assam and most of the time, the epicenter is located near Tezpur.

On June 15, 2021, an earthquake of the magnitude of 3.0 on the Richter scale jolted Assam at 10:53 pm. The earthquake (Lat: 26.59 & Long: 92.19) occurred at a depth of 10 Km. The epicenter was positioned 60 km west of Tezpur in Assam’s Sonitpur district.
